What is the most important here is this:
Generally yerba mate contains theobromine, theophyline, caffeine, tannins and polyphenols. All of these alkaloids are supplied at once. Frankly speaking drinking yerba mate gives us a positive buzz. PREPARATION OF YERBA MATE
How to prepare warm yerba mate:
There are many different ways to prepare yerba mate - in different ways it's prepared by Argentinians, Brazilians and Paraguayans and yet in another way it is prepared on the Near East, where yerba mate is highly popular.
At the end we will describe in detail the tradicional, generalized way to prepare yerba mate in South America but simple recipe of how to prepare yerba mate we can conclude in three points:

Place the tube (bombilla) in the vessel.

Put yerba mate dry loose to the vessel (from ½ to ¾ of the capacity).

Pour the dry loose with boiled but slightly cooled water.
Of course prepared in such way beverage is ready to drink but skipping essential details can lead to clogging the bombilla and it will cause that first portion may be too bitter and too intensive in taste. In order to get full taste of yerba mate and to minimize the effect of blocking up the bombilla we should carefully follow the steps contained in the instruction below.
Tradicional way to prepare yerba mate in South America:
We put yerba mate drought to the vessel - depending on your preferences and experience - from 1/2 to 3/4 of its capacity. We suggest beginners to start from minimum amounts, even 1/8 - 1/4 of the capacity. In South America it is common to add herbs before pouring. After putting the drought we clog the opening of the vessel (e.g. using cork pad or hand) and we turn it upside-down. Afterwards we energetically shake the vessel so that the smallest crumbs and dust could fall down in the direction of clogged opening. Then we slowly rotate the vessel for around 45 degrees to the side, meantime shaking it very gently from wall to wall. Like this the smallest particles will be farthest from the inlet of bombilla which not only will protect bombilla from clogging but it will also reduce suction of dust. Such placement of dry loose also affects taste and aroma durability of yerba mate in the following brews.
Keeping the vessel leaned we place the bombilla (blocking with finger its upper end) in the empty space of the vessel and very gently rotate it to the level. Rotate the vessel really carefully in order to prevent the leaned dry loose spill around.
Good practice is to preliminary pour the drought with cool water which prevents the loss of nutritional values and too rapid release of aroma. We pour cold water into empty space almost to the edge of vessel and like that we wait for about 2 -3 minutes so the drought can absorb water. After such drought-hardening we pour the hot water (of temperature about 70–80°C) into free space near the tube. Vessel should be filled almost to the edges but heaped mound of drought should stay dry above the level of water. We wait for a moment and then we can drink yerba mate. It is very important not to mix the beverage with bombilla as it may lead to clogging up the tube and drought will too quickly wash out the valuable properties.
Warm water can be added average of up to 7 times before we notice that yerba mate lost taste and is too watery or rinsed (lavado). When we notice the rinsing of taste we can try to move the mound to the other edge of vessel and like that we can do refills from other side. Such action can activate yerba mate for another few refills (reformar o mate).
We can add sugar or honey to yerba mate but sweetened brew badly affects vessels made from gourd or wood therefore it is better to use ceramic or clay vessels to sweetened yerba mate.
